Dear reader, my intention with this substack is to produce in public a coherent book on petrohistory, but what you’re getting here is far from the fully realized work. To support this project, buy a paid subscription now, and I’ll send you a “free” copy of the book in a few years, when it’s ready. It will be better than the below.
Enthalpy is a real word:
en·thal·py
/ˈenˌTHalpē,inˈTHalpē,enˈTHalpē/
noun
a thermodynamic quantity equivalent to the total heat content of a system. It is equal to the internal energy of the system plus the product of pressure and volume.
Erathication is from Cyclonopedia page 16:
Erathication: A process that spreads out in at least three directions:
the leveling of all planetary erections (idols?), or the attainment of a burning immanence with the Sun (the solar outside) and the burning core of the earth (the Insider)
the immersion of the planetary body in flows and undercurrents, pushing the Earth towards full-fledged sogginess [and, conversely, total desertification]
a participation with the Earth as a manifest degenerate entity for which wholeness is but a superficial distraction.
A few notes on each point from me:
the burning core of the earth burns under the force of gravity, the same force that closer to the surface crushes organic matter into oil, methane, and coal. = More energy, everywhere in the nooks and crannies and winds and storms of the earth, arising in unexpected ways, in all forms that energy can take.
one of the flows into which the planetary body has been immersed is an accelerated increase in the flow of carbon from underground into the atmosphere
erathication will (continue to) shatter us into billions of localized catastrophes, building upon the current social epidemic of atomization in the developed world.
